Reported as being present in Spain by Carles-Tolra and this record is referenced by Roháček (2016) but other than that there are no descriptions available beyond Bigot's 1886 original description
Close to a melanic M. corrigiolata ? - same as M. kawalii each of which are from a single occurrence and not recorded since

Bigot, 1886: 1. M. hispanica, f - Long. 5 mill. (praeter terebrum.)
(Latin) Nigra. Cheto albido; halteribus flavis; coxis anticis flavis; femoribus intermediis et posticis, apicem versus flavo annulatis; alis fere hyalinis; facie obliqua.
(French) Noire. Chète blanc; front luisant; balanciers jaunes; hanches anterrieures jaunâtres; un anneau jaune pres de l'extremite des cuisses intermediaires et posterieures; ailes presque hyalines; face fort oblique.
Espagne. - 1 specimen
Approximately: "Black. White [bristles?]; shiny forehead; yellow pendulums (halteres); anterior hips (coxae) yellowish; a yellow ring near the extremity of the intermediate and posterior thighs (femora); almost hyaline wings; strong oblique face."
